This is a multi-part question. Please create a visual post for your blog on a topic specific to your business and
answer the questions below. This involves critical thinking. What is important to your business and visitors?
The image must be the focal point of the post telling the story or conveying a point. You may include multiple
images. The goal is to visually convey a message with minimal text. Please pay attention to what was
discussed in class. Ensure that you include a link to the blog post in your answer. Do not forget that this needs
to be included in your hardcopy. I am marking what you hand in with your hardcopy but also need to see the
digital version on your blog. If it is not online for me to view (in addition to the hardcopy), I cannot mark this
question. (4 Marks)
a. Why did you choose the specific image(s)? (3 Marks)
The goal of this post is to tell a story using pictures to show why food is more than just food. The three images are meant to depict three moments from a person’s life that show meaningful moments brought together by food.
The first image shows a young child being fed by a parent. I chose this picture firstly because I believe the emotional power of family and caring for someone you love is potent.
The second image depicts an older version of that child, now a teenager, eating with friends. This picture was chosen to show how food can be a social experience, shared with friends and meaningful relationships.
The last image is meant to be that same person as an adult now dining at The Walkerville Retreat. This picture is not only made to highlight the dining room and products but also to work as an extension of the other two pictures, showing that the business will give the consumer the chance to have more meaningful meals/experiences.
b. Explain in detail why the image(s) was beneficial for the post. (3 Marks)
The goal of the post was to communicate this message:
Food is not just for substance but an important and meaningful social experience that all humans share and that The Walkerville Retreat can make those experiences more meaningful.
With the secondary goal of getting the user to book a reservation.
The images were meant to show why food was meaningful instead of relying on text. The first image combined with the text “Food is not just food, Food is love” should convey and connect with the user. A parental figure feeding a child is a situation everyone on the planet has been on at least one side of, increasing the likelihood the user will personally connect with the content. Showing the same person at different points in their life will ideally inspire the user to remember meaningful meals throughout their life, further increasing the emotional impact of the content.
