As per the headline in Question #2, was the headline representative of the article? Please explain your reasoning in detail. (4 Marks)
The article in question, when fully read, informed the reader about how the BC-located Sun Peaks Resort has been making efforts to be more environmentally friendly. The written section of the article was about one paragraph and most of the information was in a one-minute video embedded in the article.
The headline was not fully representative of the article and left me feeling like I did not get the information I had hoped for. With a bold statement calling the ski tourism industry ‘dirty’ I had assumed the article would inform me on how and why the industry is ‘dirty,’ either by exposing unknown facts or data on how damaging tourism is for the environment. The article did not deliver on that, it explained how this specific resort has made green initiatives but neglected to explain why that is important in the first place. The actual content of the article was only half delivered on the curiosity sparked by the headline, leaving me feeling disappointed.
